A relative of the Blue Blubber, these pretty blue jellies gain their ‘Red Cross Blubber Jellyfish’ name from the red markings on their exterior.

Easy to look after, with no sting, Red Cross Blubber jellies are ideal for those looking to keep jellyfish for the first time.

With eight arms which extend in a cauliflower-like formation, they are energetic creatures. Their constant bursts of energy mean they are one of the most visually impressive of our jellyfish species; highly active and strong swimmers, they’re rarely not up to something!

Unlike their Blubber cousins, which come in a variety of colours – the Red Cross Blubber Jellyfish are always blue in shade, darker at the top, lighter at the tips of their arms. The striking red markings on the bell making them one of the prettiest species we have available.

Red Cross Blubber Jellyfish Size Guide

Our Jellyfish are sold at a young age, therefore offering you the maximum possible lifespan for your fish. Our jellyfish will arrive in a mixture of sizes depending on our current stock, these are:

  • ‘Juvenile’ size (roughly 2.5cm (1 inch) in diameter)
  • ‘Small’ size (roughly 8cm (3 inches) in diameter).

We do not stock larger size Jellyfish, but be aware that your fish will of course grow in their lifetime.

Red Cross Blubbers have a life span of up to a year.

Caring for Red Cross Blubber Jellyfish

In the wild, Red Cross Blubbers will feed on shrimp, and so we recommend to feed with Baby Brine Shrimp, which can be bought from the vast majority of aquatic shops. Our own Medusa Jellyfish Food is perfectly suited to top up their feeding, providing all of the nutrients necessary for healthy living of your Red Cross jellies.

They require feeding 1-2 times a day, and prefer a jellyfish tank setup with medium to fast water flow, so their athletic swimming is catered for!

As they are strong swimmers, your tank should be set to a relatively high water flow, to ensure they can’t bash into the sides of the tank!
