With a thick white bell, and flowing tentacles, it’s easy to see where the name “Ghost Jellyfish” comes from.

The bell of the Ghost Jellyfish bears more resemblance to a white blob than anything else, and in the wild, this thick cushioned bell can often become ‘tatty’ as it comes into contact with rocks or other sharp materials. This is where the Ghost similarity comes from, with the uneven shape of the white bell giving this jellyfish its ghostly appearance.

The Ghost Jellyfish is somewhat a specialist species, its’ long tentacles do have a sting that can cause irritation. So if you’re just starting a pet jellyfish collection, this probably isn’t the species for you. Take a look at the Moon, Blue Blubber or Red Cross Blubber species as great starter pets.

Naturally bred in the seas surrounding Southern China and Japan, Ghost Jellyfish are a fairly common species in Asia – but the jellyfish we supply are home bred, perfect for keeping in our jellyfish aquariums.

Ghost Jellyfish can grow to a large size, up to 50cms in diameter, so bear this in mind if you have a smaller size aquarium.

Ghost Jellyfish must only be kept in aquariums with their own species – they should not be mixed with other type of jellyfish.

We supply jellyfish in ‘baby’ sizes. This ensures you get the longest lifespan possible from your jellies! We provide juvenile jellyfish as standard, which are around 2.5cm to 8cm in bell diameter size.
