Amakusa Jellyfish have long impressive tentacles and are one of the most dramatic and attractive of our pet jellyfish.

Relatively easy to keep, great care should still be taken when looking after Amakusa Jellyfish – their extra long tentacles require attention and care while moving from one tank to another or while cleaning your tank.

Amakusa do have a sting, and so with this in mind, they are a species which are more suited to expert owners due to the high level of maintenance.

Bred in the Indian Ocean and North Atlantic Ocean, Amakusa Jellyfish (Sanderia malayensis) are part of the Pelagiidae family.

In a natural environment, these can grow to have a tentacle length of up to 1 metre, with a maximum head diameter of 50cm.

Amakusa Jellyfish Size Guide

Our Jellyfish are sold at a young age, therefore offering you the maximum possible lifespan for your fish. We provide jellyfish in a mixture of sizes depending on our stock, there is no need for you to choose size. These are as follows:

• ‘Juvenile’ size (roughly 2.5cm (1 inch) in diameter)
• ‘Small’ size (roughly 8cm (3 inches) in diameter).

We do not stock larger size Jellyfish, but be aware that your fish will of course grow in their lifetime.

Amakusa Jellyfish Feeding Guide

We recommend to feed your Amakusa Jellyfish with Baby Brine Shrimp, which are cheaply available from most aquatic shops. This should be the basis of their diet, and you can use our Cubic Medusa dried jellyfish food to top up or alternate feeds, to mix their food intake between live and dried food.
