The Hobby Artemia Breeder is by far and away the easiest method of hatching live baby brine shrimp, ready to feed to your jellyfish.

All species of jellyfish can be fed with live baby brine shrimp.

How does it work?

  1. Fill the Hobby Artemia Breeder with Saltwater (the same saltwater as you’d use in your jellyfish tank)
  2. Place unhatched brine shrimp eggs around the outer ring of the Hobby Artemia Breeder.
  3. Replace the lid of the hatchery.
  4. Wait 24-48 hours. During this time, the shrimp will hatch and will begin to swim to the middle of the hatchery, i.e. towards the light.
  5. After 24-48 hours you will see the live baby brine shrimp hatched and in the middle of the Hobby Artemia Breeder. They will have also swum directly into a cup which can be removed from the hatchery.
  6. Remove the cup, which is now full of baby brine shrimp. You may now either feed this to your jellies, or store (refrigerate) for later feeding.

Live food is the best type of food you can give to your jellyfish. Not only is it more nutritious than dry food, but it also has zero waste.

With dried food, you will typically find that your jellyfish will not eat all of it, and you will end up with uneaten food at the bottom of the tank which needs removing – can be very time consuming!

With live food, the brine shrimp will continue to be in the system for the entire time, and so your jellyfish can feed until they are full, and can continue to feed during the day.
